I think it would be a good idea to list some events we would like to have occur.
I'll start with saying that I would like an actual CS:S/1.6/CSP tournament. One that we actually pay to play in ($5 a tournament). Winning team wins the cash. This way, we have money in it and we'll have people that want to finish it. I don't mind going outside for a 5 minute smoke break, but come back in to finish the tournament.
Depending on the participation, I will organize this myself. I would love to have something like this happen, AND I believe it might even bring in more members.
I know, I know, I may get bashed for this LAN being known as a laid-back LAN where we get a bunch of friends around and have a good time, but I feel like this LAN is turning less and less from a LAN into a vacation where we drink beer and catch up. By definition, a LAN party from Wikipedia is:
| Quote: |
| A LAN party is a temporary, sometimes spontaneous, gathering of people with computers, between which they establish a local area network (LAN), primarily for the purpose of playing multiplayer computer games. |
I believe we should stick to this a little more.
*NOTE* Don't flame me for thinking my ways, and I am by NO means wanting to change the way that the LAN is currently run. I'm just trying to do my part. _________________

I, for one, have had mixed feelings about this. We want to keep the LAN fun, but we also want people to do what they like. In the past we've tried to run tournaments, but it is such a hassle to get people to cooperate. In fact, the most fun I've had playing games at DarkLAN was when we had an impromptu 30-person game of Soccerjam.
The E5 have done what we can to make DarkLAN happen every year, but the past few years I have seen some of us mention how stressing and un-fun it is to organize. If DarkLAN is to continue, we will need to keep the stresses out and the fun in, so I'm anticipating quite a few changes to how things are run this year. If you want to take over the tournament planning, perhaps in coordination with Brett or someone else, then you have my blessing. _________________ Elite 5 member DarkDogg |

| The whole $5 tourney may not work so well. There is no way to really divide the team evenly. There will always be one or two teams that completely own and a couple that take it so hard they bleed. It'll surely end in "No fair, the teams were stacked". It wont matter whether you do a random drawing or try to hand pick the teams to make them more even. |

If none of the E5 want this to happen, I'll forget I said anything. _________________

I have zero problem with anyone taking ownership of this aspect of DarkLAN. Go nuts. _________________ Elite 5 member DarkDogg |

I'll throw down $5 for Soccerjam as long as Gecko and Gundam are on my team, lol.
Jason, I could do that. Just a matter of if you can pull it off but I'd be down. |
